Snowboard is one of the newer events at the Winter Olympics, having been introduced in Nagano, Japan at the 1988 Games.

There will be 11 events in the snowboard competition at Beijing 2022, including mixed team snowboard cross, which will be making its Winter Olympics debut after featuring at the Winter Youth Olympic Games.

It will take place at the Genting Snow Park in the Zhangjiakou cluster from February 5 to February 15.

Freestyle skiing, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping and biathlon will also take place nearby.

What are the rules for Snowboard?

Alongside the mixed team event, men and women will compete separately in Parallel Giant Slalom, Snowboard Cross, Halfpipe, Slopestyle and Big Air.

The halfpipe, slopestyle and Big Air competitions are all judged events, meaning each athlete's run(s) are scored by a panel of judges who evaluate riders based on the difficulty of the tricks, execution of the run, amplitude of the techniques and landing of the jumps.

Meanwhile, the snowboard cross, parallel giant slalom and mixed team snowboard cross events are all races.

Team GB has three members taking part in the Snowboard event, with Charlotte Banks and Kate Ormerod in the women's event and Huw Nightingale in the men's event.
