CRIME rates have dropped in 20 out of 32 of Scotland's local authorities, but have risen in 12, new figures have revealed.
Na-h Eileanan Star saw recorded crimes go down by 36% in October compared to the same period last year - the biggest decrease in the country.
While the largest increase was in the Scottish Borders, which had 44% more recorded crimes.
Across Scotland last month the police recorded a total of 19,708 crimes, according to Official Statistics on crimes and offences recorded by the police in Scotland for October 2021.
