President Joe Biden may have expected to see sweeping vistas, misty glens and towering, heather-clad peaks on his arrival in Scotland

But what he got was something altogether different.

A journalist travelling with the leader of the free world revealed Mr Biden's motorcade was confronted by an unusual sight as it swept along a country road after departing Edinburgh.

Assembled members of the media, the White House staff and presumably First Lady Jill Biden and the President himself were given a glimpse of a 'a large, naked, Scottish man' who stood in his window taking pictures as they drove past.

A member of the press travelling with the White House team is reported to have told British journalists: ‘At one point when we were still on smaller country roads, a large, naked  Scottish man stood  in his front window taking a picture of the motorcade with his phone.’

The location of the full frontal assault on the American delegation's senses has not been revealed, or whether the man faced any repercussions for his unorthodox approach to souveneir photography.

The President's reaction has also not been disclosed.

Mr Biden touched down in Edinburgh yesterday for COP26, and has already grabbed the attention of the nation with Air Force One, Helicopter Marine One, and a 20 car motorcade all part of his transportation plans.

The Herald:

People living  in Calder Road, Edinburgh, were treated to a surreal moment when Biden’s car ‘The Beast’ parked up at a petrol station to refill.
