Motorists heading towards Glasgow faced chaos on the roads this morning after a crash involving several vehicles brought traffic to a standstill.

The pile-up on the A737 near Linwood in Renfrewshire backed up traffic and caused delays of up to half an hour as cars were slowed to a crawl.

A number of police officers were called to the scene and were able to open one lane after it had been cleared of debris.

It is understood at least one person involved in the crash required medical treatement, but their condition has not been disclosed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.50am on Saturday, 30 October, officers were called to a report of a road crash involving three cars on the A737 near Linwood.  Police and Ambulance attended and the vehicles were recovered."
