The trainline between Dumfries and Carlisle will be closed until further notice after two bridges were washed away on the River Annan.
On Thursday night, Network Rail reported that two bridges north of the railway had washed away after heavy rain battered much of Scotland.
Trains can no longer pass over the Annan Viaduct and it is pending a daylight safety inspection.

ScotRail has advised that rail replacement transport has been requested for the morning of Friday, 29 October and those planning to travel on the route have been advised to check the ScotRail mobile app or check their journey on the website before travelling.
SEPA has issued a flood warning which is in place for the Dumfries and Galloway region and the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning which is in place until at least 3pm tomorrow.
