Police have provided an update after an armed response to reports of a man spotted carrying a weapon in a Glasgow street yesterday (Wednesday). 

They say the full circumstances of the incident are still being investigated but officers are following a "positive line of enquiry". 

Resident's in Toryglen spotted a helicopter circling the residential area around Prospecthill Road as well as teams of armed police at around 10am on July 7. 

Officers attending included specialist firearms officers, the dog unit and police helicopter.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a man in possession of two weapons in the Prospecthill Circus area of Glasgow around 10am on Wednesday, 7 July.

"Officers attended including specialist firearms officers, the dog unit and police helicopter in order to immediately carry out enquiries and provide reassurance to the community.

"The full circumstances are still being investigated and we are following a positive line of enquiry."
