CINEWORLD has said Glasgow's Imax cinema will not reopen.
The chain tweeted the news this afternoon in response to a customer enquiry about the future of the riverside branch.
Its social media account posted: "The IMAX at The Science Centre will not be reopening we're afraid."
Cineworld has been contacted for more information.
The news comes as it was announced that cinemas can reopen, with strict covid safety measures, on May 19.
The firm posted an update on its website reading: "We are excited to announce that our cinemas in England and Scotland will re-open on May 19.
"We will announce the re-opening of our remaining cinemas in due course.
"At Cineworld our main priority remains the safety of our customers and employees.
"We of course follow all instructions and regulations of the local authorities and current government guidelines and regulations."
Hi RGC, The IMAX at The Science Centre will not be reopening we're afraid

Glasgow's Imax, next to Glasgow Science Centre, opened in October 2000 and was taken over by Cineworld in 2013.
Sounds permanent to me.

A huge loss for Glasgow and West Of Scotland Cineworlders. The only REAL @IMAX in Scotland.
Hope @Cineworld can take it back over in the future, if a competitor takes it over I'll be conflicted!
Cinema fans replied to Cineworld on Twitter to ask for more details about the closure.
RGC called it a "huge loss" to Glasgow and the west of Scotland if it does not reopen.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
