Football fans will get a chance to see the Henri Delaunay Cup, the UEFA Championships trophy, as it tours venues in Scotland this week.

The coveted cup, last won by Portugal at the final in 2016 , will visit Dundee, Inverness, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh as part of a five part exhibition “The Hampden Roar”.

The events will promote the fact that Hampden Stadium, in Glasgow, is to host four of the ties in June next year as part of the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament.

Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland’s Director of Events, said: “Scotland is the perfect stage for world-class events. We are extremely excited to be working with all the partners to bring this iconic trophy to Scotland for the first time.

“This keenly anticipated competition will showcase everything Glasgow and Scotland have to offer, and we’re delighted to be part of the celebrations.”

The trophy will visit Dundee’s Overgate Shopping Centre on Saturday 12th October, Inverness Leisure on Monday 14th October, Aberdeen Sports Village on Thursday 17th October and Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre on Saturday 19th October.

“The Hampden Roar” features five interactive zones, with a playing area for children, an Iconic Moments zone – a travelling museum exhibiting precious artefacts from the Scottish Football Museum, a selfie area and a Fans First zone which will capture Scots fans greatest and most iconic moments from the tournament’s history.

A further trophy tour in Glasgow is expected in 2020 as the tournament nears.
