The good weather has already arrived over Easter, and many Scots will be hoping it is a sign of things to come.
As the good weather continues (hopefully) many will flock to Scotland's outdoor pools.
While more common in seaside towns in the past, there are still a handful of lidos that you can enjoy across Scotland.
1. The Gourock Pool
Located 45 minutes from Glasgow down the west coast, the Gourock pool is understandably one of the most popular in Scotland. Offering stunning views over the Clyde, the heated saltwater pool is perfect on warm sunny days and those particularly overcast "Scottish summer" ones too.
And this gem in the west coast also offers visitors the chance to partake in a "midnight swim" as well as a host of other offers that have been available since the £1.8m renovation. The pool is only open on season, usually opening in May.
The Goruock pool opens on Friday May 3. Traditionally, the pool closes at the start of September but InverclydeCouncil has set aside £15,000 to fund an extension until the end of the month, for the third year running.
Getting there
The pool is a short walk from Gourock train station with nearby parking also available just off Albert Road.
2. The Tamar Manoukian New Cumnock Pool
Saved from closure in 2011, the open air pool enjoys thousands of visitors each year.
The freshwater pool is open to the public and is open from 9am and was recently refurbished in 20187. As well as offering public swimming, the Tamar Manoukian New Cumnock Pool also offers a number of classes, such as aqua yoga, group swimming sessions and adult only hours. As part of the revamp, the pool was named after sponsors Bob and Tamar Manoukian.
Getting there
The nearest train station is in Auchinleck, with the nearest bus stop to Dumfries House being the B7036 at the Barony Rd entrance.
3. Stonehaven Open Air Pool
Originally opened in 1934, Stonehaven's open-air swimming pool is one of the most famous pools in Scotland, and one of the most popular, with 30,000 visiting each year.
The Olympic size swimming pool is the most northern lido in the UK and is open from late May to early September.
The heated pool offers something for everyone with water slides and inflatables available at the weekends.
Getting there
The Pool is well-signposted from the A90/A92 and the main road through the town.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
