Theresa May has been touted for the Scotland football manager's job by the SNP for her ability to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory".

SNP Europe spokesman Peter Grant mocked the Prime Minister following the latest Brexit talks, joking that she had been interviewed for the post as a potential successor to Gordon Strachan as national head coach.

Strachan left his position in October after Scotland failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Mr Grant told the Commons: "It's no surprise that the leadership contenders are now circling around the Prime Minister.

"I can reveal there is a vacancy coming up because the Prime Minister has today been interviewed for the job of Scotland football manager for her fantastic ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - it could be put to very good use."
