Police and the fire service are investigating the cause of a blaze which forced a family to flee their house in the early hours of the morning.

A vehicle parked in front of the property in Northfield Park, Annan, was found to be on fire at around 12.15am on Monday and quickly spread to the house which was destroyed by the flames.

It is understood a family were inside at the time but managed to escape.

No-one was injured in the blaze in the Dumfries and Galloway town.

A joint police and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service investigation will take place to establish the cause of the blaze.
