A driver who died after a car crashed into a wall in the Stirling area has been named by police.

Ryan Muir died following the collision on the A91 at Blairlogie, west of the junction with Manor Loan, at around 9.15pm on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old was driving a silver MG ZR car when it left the road and hit the wall of a property before striking a tree and coming to a stop.

Mr Muir, from Menstrie, was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital, where he later died.

A 27-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to the same hospital before being released.

Police Scotland closed the road for around seven hours while they conducted inquiries.

Officers said inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing and anyone with information should contact them.

Sergeant David Ross, of the road policing unit at Stirling, said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with Ryan's family at this time and we are continuing to provide them with all the necessary support and assistance they require.

"We are still eager to hear from any motorists who were on the A91 on Wednesday evening and witnessed exactly what happened.

"If you believe you have any information of use to this investigation then please contact police immediately."
