Labour is to appoint an independent specialist organisation to offer support and advice to anyone affected by sexual harassment in the party.

Training and advice on how to deal with such cases will be given to party staff and members of Labour's ruling National Executive Committee.

Labour has also appointed Karon Monaghan QC to investigate how allegations made by prominent activist Bex Bailey that she was raped at a party event were dealt with.

Ms Bailey claims that she was discouraged from reporting the alleged attack because a senior official said it could damage her career.
