A man knocked down by a lorry as he crossed the road in his wheelchair has been named by police.

Billy McIntyre, 41, was hit by the HGV in Dalrymple Street in Greenock, Inverclyde, at around 11.45am on Wednesday.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment but died on Thursday.

The 52-year-old lorry driver was left shaken but was not injured.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact officers on 101.
