THE Herald's unrivalled reputation for quality journalism has been recognised with more than a dozen nominations at this year's Scottish Press Awards.

Senior features writers Teddy Jamieson, Susan Swarbrick and foreign editor David Pratt lead the way with two apiece.

Teddy and Susan are both nominated for Interviewer of the Year.

Teddy is also in the running for feature writer and Susan as sports feature writer.

David is a contender in the feature writer and reporter of the year sections.

Political editor Tom Gordon is nominated for the title of Political Journalist of the Year.

Iain MacWhirter is a candidate for Columnist of the Year alongside Kevin McKenna. 

Business editor Ian McConnell is nominated for the title of Financial/Business Journalist of the Year.

Marianne Taylor and Brian Beacom are in contention for Feature Writer of the Year.

Steven Camley encapsulated a year dominated by Brexit with a nomination for Cartoonist of the Year.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow on Thursday May 11.

The Scottish Press Awards, now in their 38th year, is organised by the Scottish Newspaper Society in conjunction with Event Consultants Scotland. It is sponsored by Clydesdale Bank, Diageo, VisitScotland, the Scotch Whisky Association and the Big Partnership.
