She’s Britain’s youngest MP and was hailed as “a breath of fresh air” for younger voters when she first entered the House of Commons in 2015.

However, in a surprise and candid interview, Mhairi Black has now revealed she “hates” being at Westminster - and finds it “depressing.”

Asked directly if she will stand for re-election in 2020, the 22-year-old MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South told the Sunday Post: “I don’t know.”

“I think you should only stand in politics if you think there is a need for you to be in it,” she added.

Having worked at the House of Commons for almost two years now, she said she can’t help but “still hate the place.”

Citing her reasons for disliking it, she explained she found the travelling up and down to be “a pain,” the political system to be dated, and further added how “you are working with a number of people you find quite troubling.”

Ms Black became a viral sensation earlier this week when she made a comment in reply to Tory Minister Caroline Nokes during a Westminster session.

Ms Black was criticising a move by the UK Government to withdraw housing benefits for 18 to 21-year-olds when Ms Nokes retaliated by saying: “The Scottish Government already has a wide range of powers which would enable them to alleviate the changes being proposed here.”

Ms Black could be seen mouthing: “You talk sh**e, hen.”
