A TEENAGER who had started munching his way through a haul of stolen cakes worth more than £300 must pay compensation to a cafe.

Police probing a break-in at the Willowgate Cafe in Kilfauns, Perth, discovered that teenager David Martin had consumed a substantial part of the evidence.

Officers found nearly £300 worth of cakes, sweets and tray bakes in Martin’s  home. He said he had eaten a huge chunk of chocolate and almond cake.

Unemployed Martin, who has worked as a chef at a local college, admitted stashing stolen goods, which had been taken from a fishery coffee shop by two of his friends.

Martin, 19, Crieff Road, Perth, pleaded guilty to reset at Perth Sheriff Court in June 2015 and was ordered to pay £100 pounds compensation.
