RNLI Lifeboat launched in search for two youths reportedly on swamped pier
The RNLI Peterhead Tamar Lifeboat ‘The Misses Robertson of Kintail’ was requested to launch by UK Coastguard on Sunday, March 5 at 6.10pm with its volunteer crew, to rescue two youths reported as being possibly washed off Buchanhaven pier.
The youths were spotted on the pier which had large waves cascading over it. The lifeboat searched the area for approximately 1.5 hours in poor conditions.
After a witness had reported two bedraggled youths were seen leaving the area to the police and coastguard, the lifeboat was stood down at approximately 7.40pm.
The lifeboat returned to its berth at 8.00pm.
