Business Minister Fergus Ewing is meeting with the management of Greggs to offer support to 107 employees facing redundancy due to the closure of the firm's bakery in Midlothian.

Midlothian North SNP MSP Colin Beattie asked Nicola Sturgeon what support her Government is offering to the workers facing redundancy at Greggs Loanhead.

Ms Sturgeon said: "I was very concerned to learn about the situation at Greggs Loanhead, and I know this will be a very anxious time for bakery employees and their families.

"As soon as the announcement was made we immediately contacted the company to offer support for employees through our Pace initiative.

"Fergus Ewing will be speaking with Greggs management later today and with union representatives to explore possible options for supporting the Midlothian site and its workforce.

"We will continue to engage and monitor the situation closely."
