INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after a car crashed into a family's garden.

Two men, aged 21 and 26, are in a serious condition in hospital after the vehicle left the road shortly after going round a bend on Glasgow Road in Kirkintilloch.

The couple, who have a young son, are understood to have woken up to find the Vauxhall Corsa overturned in their garden, shortly after 4.45am on Tuesday.

The family were too traumatised to speak to the Evening Times about the incident.

One local resident said: "The car flipped right over into the garden."

The vehicle is understood to have hit a tree, preventing it coming closer to the family's home.

The 26-year-old male driver was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, along with a 21-year-old male passenger who also had serious injuries.

The driver was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital for treatment.

Both men are still in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

An 18-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, was treated by emergency crews at the scene, and nobody else was injured.

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the accident to get in touch on 101.
