The first storm officially named by the Met Office is set to hit Scotland this week.

Storm Abigail could bring winds of 60-70mph, rising to 80mph in exposed areas, to parts of the country.

A yellow warning has been issued for late Thursday into Friday for the Western and Northern Isles, Highlands, Argyll and parts of Moray and Aberdeenshire.

The Met Office asked the public for suggestions for storm names earlier this year.
