A MAN who was knocked out in the street woke up to find a thief riffling through his pockets.

The 29-year-old was targeted in Great Junction Street, near to the junction with Bangour Road, in Edinburgh, as he made his way home.

It happened at around 1.30am on Sunday.

The victim, who chased the suspect, said some of his personal items were missing.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20's, with short blonde hair.

He was wearing a black parka style waist-length jacket.

Detective Constable John Dunn said: "This was an unprovoked assault on a man making his way home.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who has information that can assist us in tracing the individual responsible."
