One of Scotland's busiest roads had to be closed for around three hours following a four-vehicle crash.

The incident occurred near the Carrbridge junction of the A9 in the Highlands at around 9.45am and involved two cars and two HGVs.

Five people were involved in the crash, with the driver of one of the HGVs having to be freed from his vehicle by the fire service.

One person required treatment for a minor injury, police said.

The road had been closed and a diversion was set up through Carrbridge, but it was reopened at around 12.55pm.

A report on the crash will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
