Two people are due in court today after the discovery of human remains in Montrose.

Police Scotland said the remains have been identified as 37-year-old Kim MacKenzie, who was from the Angus town.

The discovery was made at a property in the Market Street area on Wednesday night as part of a missing person inquiry.

A 39-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman have been arrested and charged in relation to murder, police said.

Both are expected to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court in connection with the incident.
