A 24-year-old driver has died in a two-car crash on a country road.

Two Renault Clios collided on the A83, close to Inveraray, at around 4.20pm on Friday.

The 24-year-old man driving one of the cars died at the scene of the crash, police said. The driver and passenger in the other car were uninjured.

The road was closed and diversions put in place while officers investigated the scene of the collision.

Sergeant Archie McGuire said: "This is a serious road collision which has resulted in the death of a young man.

"I thank the public for their patience as we conduct our enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.

"I would appeal to any witnesses to please contact the Argyll and West Dunbartonshire divisional road policing unit via the 101 number."
