Police in Glasgow are appealing for information to help them with an investigation into a serious sexual assault.

The incident happened between 1.30am and 2am on Sunday in a parked car on Daldowie Road, near Hamilton Road, in the city's Mount Vernon area.

The car is thought to have been parked beside some green wrought iron gates and police said it is understood another vehicle may have passed by during that time.

Detective inspector Graeme McLachlan said: "The stretch of road where this assault took place is not heavily-used, especially at this time of the morning.

"I am particularly keen to speak to any drivers who were in the area around the time of the incident and noticed a car parked at this location.

"They may have vital information that would assist with our inquiry."

Police can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101. Crimestoppers is on 0800 555 111, where calls can remain anonymous.
