Radio DJ Neil Fox exploited his fame to sexually abuse fans as young as 15 as well as colleagues, a court heard.
The 54-year-old is alleged to have sexually abused three girls aged under 16 between 1988 and 1996.
One of the complainants says she was 15 when Fox took her to an underground car park at Capital Radio in Euston in July 1988, and made her perform a sex act on him while he put his hand in her underwear.
Other girls allege that while at public events, the radio presenter kissed them, forcing his tongue into their mouths.
Another four allegations of indecent assault relate to females aged over 16.
Prosecutor John Price QC told Westminster Magistrates' Court that Fox was a well-known personality, known either as "Foxy" or "Dr Fox".
He said: "The prosecution alleges in this case that he has exploited the privilege conferred upon him by him fame to inflict his sexual actions upon women without regard either for their wishes or their age."
Mr Price continued: "He also inflicted himself upon adolescent girls - in other words, children."
Fox faces eight counts of indecent assault and two of sexual assault, all said to have taken place between 1988 and 2014.
At the beginning of the trial, Jonathan Caplan QC, defending Fox, asked if the star could sit beside his solicitor in court so he could pass notes if necessary.
Chief Magistrate Howard Riddle denied he request, saying it was in the "interest of fairness for all" for defendants to sit in the dock.
Fox, from Fulham, south-west London, was first arrested in September last year, then again in December and March.
He rose to fame presenting the chart show on Capital Radio, and was a judge on Pop Idol between 2001 and 2003 alongside Simon Cowell, Pete Waterman and Nicki Chapman.
