ONE person has been taken to hospital after a chemical spill on a main road.

The A75 at the Glenluce bypass in Dumfries and Galloway was closed and emergency services raced to the scene after a bottle of liquid was found at the side of the road at around 1.40pm.

Firefighters are dealing with the spillage and are waiting for specialists to arrive to identify the chemical.

One person has been taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary while traffic was being diverted through the village of Glenluce.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "There is no risk to the wider public."
