A WOMAN has died after being  hit by a bus in Glasgow.

The 69-year-old was crossing Golspie Street, near to Helen Street, in Govan, when she was struck by a bus at 2.40pm today.

Police have confirmed that she died from her injuries.

Golspie Street is closed tonight as police carry out an investigation.

Local diversions are in place.

Sergeant Andrew Shearer, from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Govan said:

“This was a serious incident which has tragically resulted in the death of a woman.

"Specialist officers are carrying out enquiries and my thoughts are with the family at this time.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances of the crash.

 “At this time we are asking anyone who may have information, or who witnessed the crash, to please contact the Greater Glasgow Divisional Road Policing Unit on the non-emergency number, 101.”
