A campaign showcasing youth projects which have benefited from a scheme where cash is seized from criminals has attracted the support of politicians and Sir Alex Ferguson.

The #cashbackselfie campaign, run by YouthLink Scotland (YLS), involves young people posting photos of themselves enjoying activities boosted by the initiative.

There have been more than 100 so far, including a selfie with football legend Sir Alex when he was snapped with Shell Twilight Basketball Project in Govan, Glasgow.

Justice Secretary Michael Matheson also got involved, taking a selfie with the young people of Ocean Youth Trust in Inverkip near Greenock, while Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop tweeted hers from the Chill Out Zone in West Lothian.

Ms Hyslop said: "YouthLink Scotland's #cashbackselfie campaign is a great way to encourage our youngsters to get creative and I really enjoyed getting involved and learning the art of the perfect selfie."

The most recent round of the CashBack Open Arts Fund, administered by YLS, awarded over £200,000 to projects across Scotland.

The CashBack Youth Work Fund, also managed by YLS, has been operating for seven years.

Following the latest allocation of grant awards, more than £9 million has now benefited 1,738 projects across all 32 local councils in Scotland.

It is part of the Scottish Government's CashBack for Communities programme which reinvests the proceeds of crime back into communities to benefit Scotland's young people.
