Oscar Pistorius's case is being heard by South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal, where prosecutors are again pushing for a murder conviction against the double-amputee athlete for shooting his girlfriend.

Prosecutors and Pistorius's defence lawyers are presenting arguments at the court in Bloemfontein to a panel of five judges, who will decide if his manslaughter conviction should stand or if it should be changed to a more serious murder conviction. The judges could also order another trial.

Prosecutors say a judge made an error at Pistorius's trial last year when she acquitted him of murder for killing Reeva Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria on Valentine's Day in 2013. Pistorius was instead found guilty of culpable homicide, a charge comparable to manslaughter, and sentenced to five years in prison.

The Olympic runner, who is currently under house arrest at his uncle's home, was not at Tuesday's hearing.
