THE sight of David Hasselhoff sauntering around in a swashbuckling Captain Hook costume alongside his famed talking car KITT certainly provoked a few double takes.
The 63-year-old star of Knight Rider and Baywatch will lead the cast of pantomime Peter Pan at the SECC Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow next month.
Hasselhoff was joined at the official launch by fellow cast members including legendary Scottish comedy duo The Krankies – known for their catchphrase "fandabidozi" – and Pop Idol winner, Michelle McManus.
The actor, who revealed that among his first ever roles was playing one of the Lost Boys in Peter Pan, said he was looking forward to performing for a Glasgow audience.
"I like that they are classy, friendly and quite vocal," he said. "They are incredibly responsive."
In fact, Hasselhoff – nicknamed "The Hoff" – is fond of Scotland as a whole.
"Scotland is like me – they never give up," he enthused. "It really is Braveheart and a country that is so unified by the belief there is always hope."
Hasselhoff admitted to being delighted by the prospect of playing a villain.
"It is a great part to play because I'm so full of myself," he said. "The whole show I'm looking in the mirror saying: 'To Hoff or not to Hoff, that is the question.' I'm going to make it fun."
