A teenage boy has been injured after a bus window was smashed while it was travelling through Dundee.

The vehicle was hit at about 6.25pm on Sunday in the city's Lothian Crescent and the incident resulted in a 16-year-old boy being left with a minor leg injury.

Police Scotland said officers are trying to trace five males aged between 11 and 20 who were all seen in the area at the time.

The force appealed for information and said the group were wearing dark clothing.

A police statement said: "The implications of throwing any type of missile at a moving vehicle can be very serious indeed, not least when it is public transport carrying passengers.

"The implications for anyone within that vehicle, anyone nearby for that matter, could be catastrophic.

"On this occasion a young man received a minor leg injury, but the consequences could have been far, far worse.

"Those who get involved in this reckless behaviour may view it as a bit of harmless fun but they should consider the potential consequences of their actions. They have the potential to threaten lives."
