Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has told how a driver "heckled" him during a visit to Glasgow... then asked him whether he would be up to the task of taking the managerial hotseat at Celtic Park.

Redknapp was in the city for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice’s Annual Sporting Lunch, and, during his guest speaker slot, entertained the 400-strong all-male audience at The Glasgow City Hotel with footballing tales and quips.

As well as that, he also told how he was "surprised" at the reception he got from the locals, and recounted his exchange with the white van man.

The 68-year-old explained “I am pleasantly surprised to have received such a cracking Scottish welcome and the banter has been hilarious.

"I got heckled on my way into the hotel.  A white van man shouted ‘Harry! What about the Celtic job?’, to which I replied ‘I’ll have that’!”

The event was hosted by sports presenter Gary Richardson, and Rhona Baillie, Chief Executive of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, was delighted with the fundraising efforts.

“All the guests have clearly had a cracking day and we are one step closer to the build of our new hospice in Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.

"I am thrilled and Harry was so entertaining. It was a brilliant day for everyone,” she added.
