A man who died after he was struck by a car has been named by police.

Piotr Pawel Nowicki, 62, from the Gartly area of Aberdeenshire, died after the accident on the A96 near Huntly.

The collision, which happened at about 5.20pm yesterday, involved a silver Vauxhall Insignia.

Police Scotland Sergeant David Pirie, from the Aberdeenshire and Moray Division's road policing unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of all those involved at this difficult time.

"Officers are continuing with the investigation into the collision and anyone who witnessed it, and who hasn't already spoken to police, is asked to contact us on 101."
