GLASGOW University a cappella group Choral Stimulation have been pipped to the post in their bid to win the hit BBC show The Naked Choir.

The 10-member student group were beaten to poll position by all-male group, and favourites, Sons of Pitches.

Writing on Twitter, the band said: "We are so thankful to have made it to SECOND place in a crazy whirlwind of an experience."

They added: "It's fair to say that @TheSOPitches could not be a more deserving, passionate and worthy winner, as well as incredible friends. Proud!"

The show was hosted by celebrity choirmaster Gareth Malone.

Choral Stimulation’s songs wowed the judges in previous rounds of the show, which included versions of Nothing Compares 2 U, a number one hit for Sinead O’Connor, and a raucous interpretation of the Robert Palmer’s classic Addicted to Love.

Mr Malone said he loved working with the group.

“They worked so hard in the contest and Some of their arrangements were the highlights of the series,” he said.

“In particular, Caitlyn Sinclair’s solo on Nothing Compares 2 U was utterly beautiful and emotionally shattering."
