A South Carolina school resource officer has been banned during an investigation after a video surfaced showing him throwing a student across a classroom floor.

The incident apparently captured on a student's mobile phone happened at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.

School officials and sheriff's deputies said they are investigating what happened.

The video shows the officer asking a girl to move from a classroom desk.

When she refuses he then throws the girl several feet across the floor to the front of the classroom where he ordered her hands behind her back and applied handcuffs.
