Police have named a 46-year-old man who died after a crash between a car and a lorry in Aberdeenshire.

Alan Geals, 46, of Turriff, was driving a black Peugeot 208 when it collided with a white lorry on the A947 Fyvie to Oldmeldrum road at around 3.30am.

The 31-year-old driver of the HGV suffered minor injuries and was taken to Inverurie hospital for treatment.

Police Scotland said the road was closed to allow for crash investigations and appealed for witnesses.
