Police have raided a house used by a suspected cell of the Islamic State (IS) group in south-eastern Turkey, triggering a clash that killed up to seven militants and two policemen.

Two police officers were killed by booby-trap bombs during the operation launched against the IS cell in the city of Diyarbakir. Four other police officers were injured.

At least seven militants were killed in a shootout while three others were arrested.

It was not immediately clear if the operation was linked to suicide bombings at a peace rally in the capital, Ankara, earlier this month which killed 102 people. One of the bombers was identified as an IS militant.

Armoured police vehicles sealed off a road where officers launched the raid and heavy gunfire could be heard.
