THE ESTRANGED husband of TV reality star and former singer Kerry Katona has been charged with allegedly assaulting her and possessing a prohibited weapon.

George Kay, 35, was arrested following the alleged incident at the couple's home in Crowborough, East, Sussex, on October 3.

The weapon charge relates to a taser-style weapon disguised as a torch.

He answered bail at the weekend and will appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on November 26.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Just after 6pm on Saturday, October 3, police were called to an address in Gorsedene Close to a report that a 35-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted.

"George Kay, 35, a labourer of Hollybank Moore, Warrington, answered bail on Saturday evening (October 24) and was charged with assault by beating and possession of a prohibited weapon."
