TORY peer Michelle Mone has put her Scots mansion back on the market after ditching plans to buy her ex-husband out of it.

The lingerie businesswoman's former marital home in the village of Thorntonhall, Lanarkshire, is up for sale for offers over £1,450,000 - a drop of £150,000 from its original price.

Earlier this year Ms Mone, 44. who has been appointed as a business czar by David Cameron, said she was planning to purchase her former husband Michael's share of the property.

The Herald:

However, she later announced she was leaving Scotland for good after claiming she was fed up of abuse from SNP supporters because of her backing for the Union.

The five-bedroom home, named Telperion after one of the trees in the Lord of the Rings, has its own cinema with reclining leather seats, a 30ft recreation room and bar converted from a former triple garage.

The property is situated behind security gates and also boasts a vast family dining kitchen and is opulently furnished.

There is a sophisticated entertainment and music system that extends to most of the rooms and the back garden.

Security includes panic buttons and a CCTV system that, according to the estate agent's blurb, can be monitored by smartphone from anywhere in the world.

The house was first put on the market in 2012 for offers over £1.6 million when the Mones split but it failed to find a buyer.

It is now being advertised by estate agents Savills for offers over £1,450,000. The Mones purchased the house for £1,525,000 in 2008.

In August Ms Mone sold a Glasgow townhouse which she moved into following her marriage split for £1 million.

She is now living in an apartment in London's Mayfair and used the name of the upmarket area for her official title in the House of Lords - Baroness Mone of Mayfair.

In April Ms Mone, who was made a life peer earlier this month, said she planned to move back into the Thorntonhall house.

She said: "I'm selling my home here in Glasgow but I also own the big house with my ex-husband. For two years I've been trying to buy him out of it and he only agreed just the other day - which is fantastic.

"I designed it, I built it, I love it. But I'm going to change it all so that it doesn't have any of the bad memories from when I lived there.

"I'm over the moon. I'll always have a base here in Glasgow but I've moved in to my London home as well. So, that means I'll have just the one home here rather than one and a half."
