Two Afghan human rights workers killed by roadside bomb
TWO employees of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission have been killed by a roadside bomb which struck their vehicle in eastern Nangarhar province, officials have said.
Commission spokesman Rafiullah Bedar said six other employees were wounded in the blast, which happened as they were heading from their homes to the office on Monday morning.
Hazrat Hussain Mashreqiwal, spokesman for the provincial police chief of Nangarhar, said the vehicle was hit near the commission's office in the provincial capital, Jalalabad.
No-one claimed the attack, but Mr Bedar blamed it on Taliban insurgents.
The commission was established by the government to monitor and advise officials on human rights.
