A 15-YEAR-OLD girl is among four people charged with the murder of a man who died after a row with a group of youths.

Lorry driver Darren Kelly, 42, from Basildon, Essex, was stabbed on Tuesday night.

Essex Police said two boys aged 16 and 17, a 15-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man have been charged with the murder.

They are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today.

A 13-year-old girl from Basildon who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail until December 16.

The four charged are Chris Carroll, 20, of Pevensey Close, Pitsea in Essex, a 17-year-old boy from Pitsea, a 16-year-old boy from Basildon and a girl aged 15 from Pitsea.

They were remanded in custody.

Mr Kelly, who lived in Voysey Gardens, died at Basildon Hospital after he was found with stab wounds in Caister Drive at around 9.30pm on Tuesday.

He staggered to a block of flats covered in blood and pleading “help me, I’ve been stabbed”, but residents and paramedics were unable to save his life.

Mr Kelly’s daughter Zoe, who last saw her father on the morning of his death when he took her to work, has spoken of the family’s devastation at his death.

She said: “I’m heartbroken and to know he’s not going to be round the corner any more is very hard.

“I miss him so much already and it still doesn’t feel real, but I hope that wherever he is now he’s at peace.

“I’m sure I can speak for everyone when I say that he’s going to be truly missed.”
A post-mortem examination gave the provisional cause of death as multiple stab wounds and blood loss.
