A fresh appeal for information has been made for a hillwalker missing for almost a month.

Police are continuing the search for Robin Garton, 69, who was last seen in the Glencoe area of the Highlands on Friday September 25.

Searches involving police officers and local mountain rescue teams will focus on the Glencoe area this weekend.

Inspector Andy Bilton said: "The Lochaber area experiences an increase in visitors in the holiday period, so we are appealing once again to visitors and local residents to be mindful of the ongoing search activity and to report any information to us.

"All information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, will be considered as we continue to search for Mr Garton.

"We are very grateful for all assistance to date from partner agencies and members of the public."

A statement released by Mr Garton's family said: "We are extremely grateful to members of the emergency services and search & rescue personnel who have been helping in the search for Robin.

"We are increasingly desperate to find him. Somebody will have seen him on the morning of September 25 and we would appeal to anyone in the area that day to rack their brains. Alternatively, do you know of others that were walking that day who might have seen him?"

Mr Garton, from Devizes, Wiltshire, is described as 6ft 2ins and of slim to medium build with fair hair which is slightly balding. He occasionally wears glasses.

He checked out of the Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe at about 8am. Officers traced his black Volkswagen Passat estate car in the Achnambeithach car park off the A82 by Loch Achtriochtan.

It is believed he may have had made plans to walk in the Coire Nam Beith or Bidean Nam Bian areas.
