A pensioner spent the weekend in police custody after she was allegedly caught behind the wheel of a car five times the drink-drive limit, with no insurance and an expired licence.

The 74-year-old, from Buchlyvie near Stirling, was pulled over on Friday evening.

The arrest was made as part of Operation Core, a scheme set up last month in the Forth Valley area to tackle road safety, drug crime and violence.

More than 350 offences have been detected so far during the operation.

Police Scotland said the woman is due to appear at Stirling Sheriff Court today.
