A teenager has been attacked by two thugs and his father assaulted when he went to his aid in Castlemilk in Glasgow.

The 15-year-old boy, who was described as “vulnerable” by police, was targeted shortly after 8pm on Friday.

His 52-year-old father ran to help him and was also “seriously assaulted”, according to officers who are investigating the incident which happened in Ardencraig Quadrant near the junction with Ardencraig Drive.

Both victims suffered facial injuries and were treated at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and later released.

Detectives are hunting for two suspects who are described as white, between 17 to 21-years-old and wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Detective Constable Peter McFarlane of Cathcart Police Office said: “These were violent and unprovoked attacks and officers are currently carrying out house to house enquiries and reviewing CCTV images in their ongoing efforts to identify the two responsible.

“Although we believe this to be a random incident, there will be additional patrols in the area to provide public reassurance.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information that may assist the police investigation to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
