Police are probing a hit-and-run in Ayrshire which left a young boy with facial injuries.

The tot’s parents posted a picture of his bruised face online after a van slammed into the side of their car.

They also uploaded a picture of the damage to a car they were travelling in with their two sons.

The Facebook post said: “A white van driven by a male driver smashed into my car. My wife and two boys were in the car with me. Freddie got the worst of the crash.

“The driver never stopped and drove off. His front side of his white van must have some damage done to it.

“If you know this guy or his van can you let the police know? So lucky it was not worse.”

In the picture, the child he has a large red mark under his swollen left eye.

The picture of the car shows a badly dented back left passenger door.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “At 9.25am yesterday police were called to report of a crash at the A78 Eglinton Roundabout. A van struck a car and the van hadn’t stopped.

“Enquires are ongoing and anyone with information should call 101.”
