SCOTLAND'S alcohol reduction charity has hit out against Aberdeenshire brewery Brewdog for breaching the industry code.

BrewDog has just released a Vietnamese coffee edition of their Black Eyed King Imp Stout, which is a 12.7% ABV Russian Imperial Stout.

The brewery say on their website that it is "the world's strongest ever canned ale".

On its release, BrewDog co-founder, James Watt said: “We love big beers, big flavours, and challenging people’s perceptions of beer."

However Alcohol Focus Scotland (AFS) has reportedly said the stress on alcohol content went against the industry code.

Jennifer Curran, action chief executive of AFS said: "A drink, its packaging and any promotional activity should not in any way give the high strength undue emphasis."
