Sainsbury's is axing its mobile phone service, and here's what it means for customers....

Why has Sainsbury's taken this decision?

It is understood talks broke down between Sainsbury's and Vodafone, which runs the infrastructure for the service, after the two companies disagreed over its future.

How many people are affected?

Around 150,000 customers of Mobile by Sainsbury's are affected.

When will the phones stop working?

The service will end on January 15. But most of the affected customers are on Sim-only pay-as-you-go deals and Sainsbury's says they will not be able to top up credit after November 14.

So what should those customers do now?

Sainsbury's is advising them to use credit by January 15, although it is understood customers will still be able to reclaim any outstanding credit after that time.

Will they be able to keep their numbers?

Sainsbury's said its customers would be able to move their numbers to a new network if they wanted to.
