A train has hit a vehicle on a line near Uphall station in West Lothian.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5.05pm today.

ScotRail tweeted: "Due to a train hitting an obstruction on the line near Uphall, services between Edinburgh and Helensburgh/Milngavie may be cancelled."

Arrangements were being made for replacement buses to some services.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "One passenger on board the train is reported to have received minor injuries.

"We are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident, including how the vehicle came to be on the tracks."

It is understood there were no passengers inside the vehicle at the time.
